Zonation of Nipah Beach Ecosystem in North Lombok District to Support Sea Turtle Conservation Efforts

چکیده
Nipah Beach is facing challenges of development, economic growth, and high community demand for land, which may negatively impact the sustainability sea turtles. To mitigate this issue, ecosystem must be appropriately zoned. The goal beach zonation to allocate areas around coast stakeholders based on sensitivity turtle habitats. This research aims 1. Analyze suitability in North Lombok Regency as a habitat. 2. Design conservation area Beach, Regency. study uses an observation method, namely collecting data through direct inspection or careful field location by dividing into several stations. results are analyzed using scoring techniques spatial modeling, resulting map. Research show that level habitat ranges from 15-46 points, with station two having highest score six lowest. Stations three, part five prioritized protection zone areas, four one captive area, rest limited-use zones

Conservation implications of historic sea turtle nesting beach loss
Populations of endangered Caribbean sea turtles are far more depleted than realized because current conservation assessments do not reflect historic nesting data. We used historical sources to analyze changes in the numbers of nesting populations and population sizes for green and hawksbill turtles on all known nesting beaches in the Caribbean over the past millennium. We present the first maps...
متن کاملEvaluating Strategies to Promots Sea Turtle Conservation
Like many sea turtles worldwide (Figure 1), loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) populations are declining by approximately three percent annually and the species is currently provided federally threatened status. Two potentially beneficial strategies could boost loggerhead populations. First, conservation groups have successfully limited access to beaches during the time when females lay th...
متن کاملGlobal sea turtle conservation successes
We document a tendency for published estimates of population size in sea turtles to be increasing rather than decreasing across the globe. To examine the population status of the seven species of sea turtle globally, we obtained 299 time series of annual nesting abundance with a total of 4417 annual estimates. The time series ranged in length from 6 to 47 years (mean, 16.2 years). When levels o...
متن کاملAPPENDIX II Using Sea Turtle Carcasses to Assess the Conservation Potential of a Turtle
—Fisheries observers have documented interactions between sea turtles in the family Cheloniidae and the Atlantic sea scallop Placopecten magellanicus fishery. Sea turtle injuries resulting from interactions with scallop dredges are being mitigated through shifts in fishing effort and modifications to fishing gear. The standard New Bedford dredge can trap objects and crush them as they pass betw...
متن کاملNorth Sea ecosystem change from swimming crabs to seagulls
A recent increase in sea temperature has established a new ecosystem dynamic regime in the North Sea. Climate-induced changes in decapods have played an important role. Here, we reveal a coincident increase in the abundance of swimming crabs and lesser black-backed gull colonies in the North Sea, both in time and in space. Swimming crabs are an important food source for lesser black-backed gull...
